Founded by Renée Elliott in 1995, Planet Organic has transformed the retail scene by opening the first supermarket selling only natural and organic food. Planet Organic was the UK's first fully certified organic supermarket of its kind when it first opened its flagship store in Notting Hill, London. Their kitchens prepare daily seasonal dishes made from organic ingredients to eat in its in-store café or to take home.

Nisa-Today’s is the UK’s largest distribution and services organisation for retail and wholesale companies. Operating from 3 distribution centres in the UK, its commercial objective is to negotiate the lowest cost price of products and provide the most efficient supply chain for its member companies, by strategically using their combined turnover powerbase.
WHSmith’s highly successful travel group comprises 210 outlets in airports, train stations, bus stations and hospitals throughout the UK. This division prides itself on delivering the right merchandise in the right quantities to meet the needs of its clientele. In this way it sets standards that are carried through the entire group.

Established in 1958, Brakes is a major supplier of frozen, chilled and grocery products to the catering industry. With over 30 Brakes warehouses across the United Kingdom and employing more than 8,000 people in the UK and France, Brakes constantly strives for, and achieves, high standards of service and delivery.

 
Next is a UK based retailer offering stylish, good quality products in clothing, footwear, accessories and home products. Next distributes through three main channels: Next Retail, a chain of more than 480 stores in the UK and Eire; the Next Directory, a direct mail catalogue and transactional website with more than 2 million active customers; and Next International, with more than 140 stores overseas.
Whitbread

Whitbread is a family of brands, all of which are in the business of providing hospitality in one shape or form. They operate the number one brands in the UK in hotels, restaurants and health & fitness. Whitbread use the Talkman voice system in their food service operation.

RaceTrac Petroleum is a private company that operates gasoline stations and convenience stores in the US. RaceTrac is the 2nd largest independent gasoline vendor in the US and is headquartered in Smyrna, Georgia and employs about 3800 people across more than 250 locations.

Bibby Distribution is a wholly owned subsidiary of the privately owned Bibby Line Group with its corporate headquarters in Liverpool. The Group, which traces its history from 1807, has three main divisions - logistics, marine and financial services. Group revenues are in excess of £250 million.
 
Focus are the third-largest DIY retailer in the United Kingdom by market share and offer an extensive range of DIY and gardening products, primarily to consumers seeking to undertake light home improvement and maintenance projects. Operating over 250 stores with a total of approximately 8.2 million square feet of net selling space.
 
Handleman UK Limited (formerly Lifetime Entertainment) is a supplier and merchandiser of Home Entertainment products to a broad customer base in the United Kingdom. Customers include supermarkets, motor service areas, and chain stores.
 

The Internacionale retail operation based in Glasgow has developed into a leading high street value chain with over 150 stores throughout the UK and employs 2500 staff.  Internacionale restructured it’s operations in 2003 and divided the business into two retail chains; Internacionale which sells young womens fashion and accessories; and Au Naturale which sells home interiors.

The John Lewis Partnership is one of the UK's
top ten retail businesses with 27 John Lewis department stores and 174 Waitrose supermarkets. It is also the country's largest example of worker co-ownership. All 64,000
permanent staff are Partners in the business. Last year's sales were £5.8 billion.

 

McLeish Brothers Ltd, the 60-year-old delicatessen and convenience store chain has plans to significantly expand the business. McLeish specialises in prepared deli goods and a food to go menu such as mince and tatties, beef stroganoff and fishcakes as well as an international range of freshly-prepared Thai, Chinese and Indian meals. The emphasis is, however, on using local Scottish produce.

David Sands Ltd, based in Kinross, currently runs 20 convenience stores and 1 warehouse in Scotland. The David Sands family business dates back almost 200 years but it is only in the last 20 years that the business has started more aggressive expansion plans.  These plans are now being supported by a new purpose-built 28,000 sq ft warehouse in Kinross, Perthshire.
